Here's how to set up or disable two-factor authentication on BrightLocal accounts.
Turn on the Two-factor Authentication Feature
The account owner must first turn on the two-factor authentication feature in BrightLocal. Here's how to do that:
1. Log in to your BrightLocal account.
2. Select 'Account Details' from the avatar dropdown menu.
3. In the 'Users' tab, turn on the 'Prompt users to set up 2FA' toggle.
Set Up Two-factor Authentication on Individual Accounts
1. Log in to your BrightLocal account.
2. Select 'Account Details' from the avatar dropdown menu.
3. Click on the 'Security' tab and follow the instructions on the screen to set up two-factor authentication:
- First, download an authenticator app such as 1Password, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or Google Authenticator.
- Next, scan the QR code shown using your authenticator app.
- Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app.
4. We highly recommend saving backup codes to use in case you lose your authentication device. These codes are only available to save now. They will not be shown to you again. To save them, click the 'save backup codes' link (highlighted below), and the codes will appear in a box. Copy the codes and save them somewhere safe.
