If your business has moved and you want your Local Search Grid (or other rank tracking reports) to reflect the new address, you’ll need to update the location details and then rerun the reports:
-
Update Your Location Information: In BrightLocal, go to 'Locations' and find the Location Manager and Core Information page. Edit the location’s details to change the address to your new address (and any other changed info like phone or name). Save the changes. This ensures that any new searches use the correct location data.
- Re-run Search Grid: Now, navigate to the Local Search Grid tool for that location. You will likely need to run a new grid report because previous reports were based on your old location. Set up a new grid (choose the radius, etc.) using the updated address. Run the report, and we will fetch fresh rankings based on the new location.
- Update Rank Tracker (if applicable): If you use the standard Rank Tracker, update the location’s tracked keywords or settings if the move implies targeting a new city/area. The next scheduled rank tracking update will then use the new location. You can also trigger an on-demand update after changing the address. Keep in mind that a location change can significantly affect search rankings. Your before-and-after results might differ greatly due to the new location. It might be useful to note the last report from the old address (for historical reference), but going forward, all reports will use your new address as the point of reference.
If you have any trouble updating the address or see inconsistent data, contact our support team. They can ensure your location details are correct in our system and tools.
