As part of our continuing work to make Locations the centerpoint of the BrightLocal platform, earlier this year we made it mandatory to select a Location when creating reports. Since then, we have taken the next step, and released an update that makes Location Manager the only place where you can manage your business location data, such as name, address, and phone number.
What's changing?
Previously, when you set up a report or campaign, key business data like name, address and phone number populates the Report Settings for the Location you have selected. There it can be edited and saved in the settings of each separate report, which can lead to inconsistencies in data.
With this update, we’re removing the potential for these inconsistencies by removing the option to edit those business details from within individual report settings. So, if you spot something that isn’t right with your data, you'll be able to head over to the Location Manager page to update your info. Changes made in Location Manager will then update all report settings automatically.
What data does this apply to?
In Reputation Manager, Citation Tracker, GBP Audit, Citation Builder this change applies to the following pieces of information:
- NAP (name, address, phone number)
- Website URL
In Rank Tracker and Local Search Audit, URL is initially populated from Location Manager but can be edited and saved in the report settings if required.
Note: Business name, phone number and zipcode are part of the optional Advanced Settings in Local Rank Tracker and therefore will never be updated by Location Manager.
