Customer reviews are a great promotional tool, but before you can add them to your website or marketing materials, you need to get permission from the customer to do so.
Also, if you don't have permission from a customer, then you can't display the feedback/review using our Showcase Widget tool.
You can get permission via a Get Reviews campaign in BrightLocal. Here's how...
Creating a new Get Reviews campaign that includes permission
If you're creating a new Get Reviews campaign using email and/or SMS, when you get to the 'Landing Page Settings' tab, click on the 'Positive Landing Page 1' tab.
Check the box called 'Give people the option to write a review for use on your website/marketing materials' (see the red box below on the left).
Once checked, a message will be added to your landing page (see the red box below on the right) asking customers for permission to use their review on your website or in your marketing materials.
If you're creating a Get Reviews campaign using Kiosk and/link Mode, when you get to the 'Kiosk & Link Mode Settings' page, click on the 'Feedback Page' tab.
Check the box called 'Give people the option to write a review for use on your website/marketing materials'(see the red box below on the left).
Once checked, a message will be added to the page (see the red box below on the right) asking customers for permission to use their review on your website or in your marketing materials.
Please note: checking this box does not automatically push the customer's private feedback to external sites. Also, if the 'Enable additional Feedback' setting has been enabled then the check box will not appear. This is because when the 'Enable additional Feedback' setting is selected it removes the private feedback step from positive responses and takes the customer straight to the review site, so the only internal feedback collected is negative and we assume that no one would want to showcase that.
Editing an existing Get Reviews campaign to include permission
To edit an existing Get Reviews campaign using email and/or SMS Mode, go to the 'Review Generation' tab in Reputation Manager and find the existing template you want to edit.
Select 'Edit' from the dropdown menu.
Use the 'Next' button in the bottom right corner to scroll along until you reach the 'Landing Page Settings' page.
Click on the 'Positive Landing Page 1' tab and then select the checkbox called 'Give people the option to write a review for use on your website/marketing materials'(see the red box below on the left).
Once checked, a message will be added to the page (see the red box below on the right) asking customers for permission to use their review on your website or in your marketing materials.
To edit an existing Get Reviews campaign using Kiosk and/link Mode, follow the steps above, but instead of clicking the 'Next' button in the bottom right corner to scroll along until you reach the 'Landing Page Settings' page, use it to scroll along to the 'Kiosk & Link Mode Settings' page.
Once there, click on the 'Feedback Page' tab and select the checkbox called 'Give people the option to write a review for use on your website/marketing materials'(see the red box below on the left).
This is because when 'Enable additional feedback' is selected it removes the private feedback step from positive responses and takes the customer straight to the review site, so the only internal feedback collected is negative and we assume that no one would want to showcase that.
