Your Location Score is built to give you a balanced view of performance. It combines how visible your business is today with how strong your local SEO foundations are behind the scenes.
The score is made up of two components, each contributing 50%.
Foundations (50%)
This looks at how well your local SEO setup is in place. These are the areas you can directly improve and optimize.
| Signal | Weight within Foundations |
| Google Business Profile (GBP) | 30% |
| Website & Content | 30% |
| Citations | 20% |
| Reviews | 20% |
GBP
Your GBP score reflects how well your Google Business Profile is set up and maintained: whether your business category is accurate, your profile is complete, you've been active recently with posts or photos, and your contact details are consistent.
Website & Content
Your website score looks at how well your site is built to be found for the right searches: whether you have relevant pages for your key services, how well those pages are optimised, and whether visitors can easily take action when they arrive.
Citations
Your citations score measures how widely your business is listed across online directories, and whether your name, address, and phone number are consistent across those listings.
Reviews
Your review score reflects the overall health of your review profile: the number of reviews you've received across platforms, your average rating, how recently and regularly they're coming in, and whether you're responding to them.
Visibility (50%)
This reflects how easily customers can find your business when they search locally.
| Signal | Weight within Visibility |
| Google Maps / Local Pack | 60% |
| Google Organic | 40% |
Google Maps / Local Pack
Measures how prominently your business appears in Google Maps and the local pack when people nearby search for businesses like yours.
Google Organic
Measures how well your website ranks in standard Google search results for the terms most relevant to your business.
How it all comes together
Each component is scored from 0 to 100, then combined using the weightings above to create your final Location Score. Visibility is calculated using the tracked keywords set up in your Local Search Grid report.
There are also built-in checks to ensure accuracy and meaningfulness. For example, we look at whether:
- Your Google Business Profile category matches your business type
- Your website and GBP are aligned
- Your core services fit your industry
If something doesn’t line up, parts of your score may be adjusted to reflect that.
What this means for you
The Location Score isn’t just a number. It’s a clear way to understand where you stand and what to improve next.
Strong foundations support better visibility. And better visibility helps more customers find you.
