Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step when you log in: as well as your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app. 2FA is optional and is off until you turn it on.
If you've already turned on 2FA on the legacy platform, it's already on here too. You'll use the same authenticator app and backup codes.
Before you start
Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or 1Password.
Turn on two-factor authentication
- Click your name in the bottom-left corner and select 'Account settings'.
- Select the 'Security' tab.
- In the 'Two-factor authentication' section, click 'Turn on 2FA'.
- Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code shown on screen.
- Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app.
- Save your backup codes. You'll get 10 backup codes. Each one can be used once to log in if you don't have your phone. Click 'Copy' or 'Download' and keep them somewhere safe, such as a password manager.
Your backup codes are only shown once. You can't view them again after you close this screen.
Once 2FA is on, you'll be asked for a code each time you log in. See: How do I log in with two-factor authentication? (New Platform)
Turn off two-factor authentication
- Click your name in the bottom-left corner and select 'Account settings'.

- In the 'Two-factor authentication' section, choose to turn off 2FA.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or one of your unused backup codes.
- Confirm to turn off 2FA.
