If your business listing isn’t appearing on Google Search or Maps (even outside of BrightLocal), this is likely an issue on Google’s side rather than with BrightLocal. Common reasons include:
- Not Verified or Recently Created: A new listing that hasn’t completed Google’s verification process won’t be visible in public search. Make sure you have verified your GBP (via postcard, phone, or email code). After verification, it can still take a few days to start appearing.
- Suspended by Google: Google might suspend listings that violate guidelines (even inadvertently). Check your Google Business Profile dashboard to see if there are any suspension notices or required actions. If suspended, you’ll need to address the issue (Google usually emails the owner with a reason) and appeal or fix it to get the listing live again.
- Duplicate or Address Conflict: If there are multiple listings for the same business or a very similar business at the same address, Google might filter one out of the search results. Ensure you don’t have duplicate GBP listings.
- Location or Service Area Issues: If you moved locations or changed your service area, the old listing might be marked closed, and the new one might need time to gain visibility. Always update Google directly when you move, and expect a dip while Google processes the change.
In summary, BrightLocal does not control whether your listing shows on Google; we only report on it. You should log into your Google Business Profile account to check the status. If everything looks fine there (verified, no issues) but you still can’t find it on Google, consider reaching out to Google support for further guidance.
