Our citation submissions are all handled manually by our dedicated Citations Team who look after all campaigns. We have a tried-and-tested approach to submissions, and possess excellent knowledge of all the directories and citation sites we use.
Every citation campaign we work on follows the same steps:
1. Campaign setup
First, you select how many citation sites you'd like us to create or edit business listings on, handpick which you’d like used, and then confirm the business data you want to appear on the citations.
2. Pre-submission checks (within three days of payment)
Once you confirm and pay for your campaign, the business data you submit is checked by our team and cross-referenced against the business website and its Google Business Profile (formerly known as Google My Business) if they have one.
If we suspect any data is wrong, you are emailed on two occasions to request confirmation as part of this process. If the discrepancies that we have identified are minor and we don't hear back from you within 24-48 hours (on average), we'll begin submissions based on the data you've supplied. For more serious discrepancies, we will pause the campaign and won’t start the submissions until we hear back from you.
3. Submissions (within seven days)
Our Citation Submissions Professionals work on campaigns on a first come, first served queue basis. Typically, they will start and finish campaign submissions on the same day.
All submissions are completed by hand. We will create an account* on sites we submit to, handle all email verifications, and then complete the business data upload.
We don't handle phone verifications. Please read this FAQ to see how phone verification is handled.
* Please note: Some sites don't have a function to create an account. In these instances, we simply submit / update business data without creating an account.
4. QA and review (by day 14)
After all submissions have been finalized, the campaign is passed to a Quality Assurance Professional for review.
The Quality Assurance Professional will check every submission to ensure all the data is both complete and accurate. If any issues are spotted, they will correct them.
They also check to see which 'Submitted' and 'Pending' listings have gone live, and add the live URLs to the campaign report.
5. Live Listings check
Once the Manager is happy that the campaign is complete, it is passed on to our Live Listings Team, whose job is to check when listings go live and to update the campaign report.
They check each campaign two times as follows:
- On day 14
- On day 21
- On day 38
Once the Quality Assurance Professional is happy that the campaign is complete, it is passed on to our Campaign Completion Team, whose job is to check all listings that are still marked as “Submitted” and “Pending” to see if they have gone live at this stage and to update the campaign report.
By day 38, we guarantee that at least 70% of your listings will be live / updated. Some sites take longer than others to put listings live, therefore, certain listings may go live after the campaign has been completed. However, before we finish the campaign, we will aim to check all listings and achieve 100%, if possible.
If we don't achieve 70% live by this point, we complete additional submissions to additional sites (free of charge) until we have achieved this figure.
Should we find that we're unable to complete all the submissions you paid for, we will refund you for the incomplete portion of your campaign — this typically happens when a business already has a high number of citations and the data is already correct/complete. We only amend listings if they need updating because this adds value to your local optimization.
